Our wintertime expedition guests can choose to take an all-inclusive safari tour, which includes food, lodging, transportation, and professional nature guides, or opt to depart on their own and explore the park independently. The number of wolf sightings in Yellowstone in the winter increases each year along with the number of wolves literally on the move, which is estimated to be about 50. Wolves are spotted in Yellowstone year-round, but as we move into the winter their numbers increase. Generally, one can no longer expect to see more than three adult wolves in any area of the park, since young males and adult females leave the park heading south after mating season. There are many great reasons to go out on a winter expedition. Check out our wintertime itinerary below to find the best way to experience the Park. Opting for lodging close to the park entrance gives you early access to breakfast and other activities when you arrive in the park. Spending the night in the Lamar Valley is guaranteed if you stay at one of the hotels near the Old Faithful Inn. 7211a4ac4a
