THE OPPORTUNITYTeamChild seeks a passionate and talented Director of Finance and Administration to lead and build theorganization’s finance and operations infrastructure at one of the most dynamic times in theorganization’s 20+-year history. The Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) is a key strategicthought partner with primary leadership responsibilities for finance, planning and budgeting, humanresources, administration, and IT. Working with TeamChild’s Executive Team, the DFA strategicallyfocuses on the infrastructure required to support the organization today and in the future to meet thegoals and mission of the organization. The DFA reports to TeamChild’s Executive Director, and isresponsible for building, developing, and supervising the Finance and Administration team. This positionis currently remote due to safety considerations. Once we return to the office, we anticipate theposition will be located in TeamChild’s Seattle office at least part of the time. TeamChild is willing toexplore relocating the position to another location for the right candidate.TEAMCHILDTeamChild is a nationally recognized nonprofit serving vulnerable youth across Washington State.TeamChild is best known for its legal services program reaching children in crisis in King, Pierce,Spokane, and Yakima counties. Our clients are generally 12-24 years old and many are involved in thejuvenile justice and child welfare systems. Our legal services program is designed to keep young peopleout of juvenile court by reconnecting them to education, healthcare, and housing supports. We workclosely with public defenders, juvenile court staff, and the community to positively impact the youngperson’s life while helping the youth to accomplish their goals and reduce further contact with thecourts. The mission of TeamChild is to uphold the rights of youth involved, or at risk of involvement, inthe juvenile justice system to help them secure the education, healthcare, housing, and other supportthey need to achieve positive outcomes in their lives. In our work, we aim to move systems away fromexclusion, arrest, and incarceration towards more effective strategies that have the best chance ofpromoting the well-being and success of our most vulnerable children.TeamChild currently employs thirty amazing team members in Washington State. This responsibility provides the foundation for empowering the children and families that weserve so their needs are justly represented and their desires amply fulfilled.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Specific duties include and are not limited to: Models, centers, and upholds TeamChild’s shared values Adheres to TeamChild’s anti-racism principlesFinance Oversee day-to-day financial operations and transactions Supervise, mentor, and train members of the Finance Team Develops and oversee internal controls and documentation of accounting processes Coordinate and lead the annual audit process and annual informational tax filings, liaise withexternal auditors, tax accountants Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ExecutiveTeam and TeamChild employees Work closely with program and finance staff to monitor contract performance and deliverables Oversee coordination between Finance and Investments & Partnerships Teams Work closely with the finance staff to generate timely monthly financial reports and dashboards Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner and clearlycommunicate monthly and annual financial statements to the Executive Team, TeamChildemployees, the Finance Committee, Board of Directors, and outsidepartners/funders/stakeholders Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations Administer and review all grant and contract financial plans and budgets; monitor progress andchanges and communicate as needed with executive leadership and program staff Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting Staf the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, ensuring that all audit requirements ofthe committee are met and that meetings take place regularly, accurate meeting minutes aredocumented, and Board of Directors presentations of committee activities occur Work closely with Board Members and external consultantsOperations, Administration and Information Technology Ensure implementation of TeamChild’s policies and procedures and update/develop newpolicies and procedures to support organizational and program objectives Ensure TeamChild’s compliance with contractual and legal requirements Oversee and manage procurement and renewals of corporate, business, and professionalinsurance – includes business and professional licensing Manage TeamChild office and equipment leases, including securing new office spaces,negotiating leases, relocation project management, procuring furniture and equipment,managing landlord relationships Work with administrative staff to maintain IT vendor relationship Strategize/design IT infrastructure and implement updates as appropriate; coordinateequipment upgrades/rollouts with administrative staff and IT vendor Maintain TeamChild’s official records Oversee processes and documentation of TeamChild’s operations Assist with clear internal communication and information flow within and across TeamChild’sofficesHuman Resources Oversee HR - the function and processes Oversee and acts as liaison with outside HR consulting experts as needed for technicalconsultation or understanding best practices within the HR function Oversee regular review of personnel and other policies Work with TeamChild staff to develop annual goal development and annual performance reviewprocesses Oversee compliance with personnel policies and all applicable statutes and regulations,including staff licensing and credentialing as required/needed Support hiring teams in all recruitment efforts as needed Work with TeamChild employees, the Executive Team, and HR consultants in developing generalHR and organizational talent management strategies, including enhancing professionaldevelopment, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training, and recruiting insupport of organization missionSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSRequired Minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership experience in the following businessfunctions: finance (including senior accounting, budgeting and audit management),administration, human resources, operations Demonstrated experience working with non-profit Board of Directors, including board FinanceCommittee Proven track record in successfully leading, coaching, motivating, and supervising a team Values relationships with colleagues Values non-hierarchical work environments and consent-based decision-making Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with and maintain strong working relationships andinformation flow with staff and board members in multiple offices across the state Commitment to undoing institutional racism and all intersecting forms of oppression as aworkplace priority Experience with applying racial equity analysis, including experience and/or commitment toapplying equity analysis in budget writing and all aspects of the job Strong project management skills, including ability to balance multiple needs and priorities,excellent organizational skills, and superior attention to detail with strong follow-through Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to distill and convey complexinformation to a wide variety of audiences through tools like dashboards Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with people of different race, ethnicity, age,gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and socio-economic circumstances High level of confidentiality and ethical standards Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Preferred QuickBooks experience Basic IT skills Knowledge of retirement benefits Experience managing external vendors Sense of humor a plusCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITSTeamChild is committed to providing employees with a competitive salary and benefits package. Thesalary range for this position is $75,000 to $92,700, DOE.
