I am reaching out to you today because we are currently hiring for several AmeriCorps positions in the King County area and we are hoping you can help share these opportunities with your networks. All of these positions are supporting large-scale innovative anti-poverty solutions in our community. In addition to making a tangible impact in the community, participating in a UWKC AmeriCorps program also provides opportunities to participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including skills workshops, racial equity trainings, and access to a vast network of non-profit professionals eager to support your career growth. This year, we are also excited to offer the highest possible living stipend for our county, a monthly $250 housing stipend, and an additional $1,000 completion bonus for members who complete a full term of service.
We are hiring on a rolling basis for these positions with service terms starting on September 1, 2022:
HungerCorps Members: Connect families with critical food resources, including school meals, food banks, and public benefits programs like Basic Food (SNAP) – with a particular focus on supporting communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.
Financial Empowerment Members: Serve on one of the largest anti-poverty programs in Washington State. The Free Tax Preparation Campaign is a community-driven effort to put money into the pockets of low- and moderate-income residents of King County by increasing tax refunds, improving access to tax credits, and assisting individuals and households to apply for food, cash, and other public benefits.
Benefits Hub Coaches: Connect students to critical financial and emergency resources and information that aid students in achieving their educational goals, as well as build the capacity of the Benefits Hub program by developing strong partnerships and referral pathways that increase awareness and use of Benefits Hub services.
